Injury leads to deterioration of property

My original home in Jacksonville was a great deal of work.

Because I love gardening, I expanded the landscaping and planted countless fruit trees, ornamental shrubs and flowers. I included climbing vines, exotic grasses and tropical plants. I created pathways from crushed shells and installed lights. There were birdbaths, bird houses and statuaries. Plus, I spent hours painting the trim around the windows, doors and porch in three different complementary colors. About two years ago, I fell off a ladder while cleaning the gutters. I tore my trapezius muscle so badly that I required surgery. I was laid up on the couch for several months. I could barely stand up long enough to use the bathroom. During that recovery time, several tropical storms swept through the Jacksonville area, knocking down trees, causing flooding and leading to power outages. My house sustained significant damage to the roof, gutters, HVAC and yard. Along with the damage, the lack of maintenance began to take its toll. The vines and weeds got out of control. I had peeling paint, a termite infestation and mold growth. I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I couldn’t tolerate seeing my house deteriorate, but I also couldn’t manage the upkeep. Trying to hire professionals would have cost me a fortune. I couldn’t even sell the house through traditional means. In that situation, the right decision was contacting a cash home buyer. I was able to skip the appraisal and inspection. I was not expected to complete repairs or cleaning. The majority of the process was handled entirely online, and I was allowed to schedule the closing at my convenience.
